Clement “Jim” Faber

Clement “Jim” Faber passed away on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017, after an illness.

He was known for his warm-hearted nature and jovial spirit. He spent many days with his friends at the San Mateo Elks Lodge, where he loved to play Pinochle and participat­e in community service projects for military veterans.

Jim grew up in San Francisco, where he attended Galileo High School. After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy as a First Class Petty Officer. He served a four-year tour of duty in Korea. When he returned, Jim worked for Matson on the San Francisco waterfront. He later worked at the Port of Redwood City, and ended his career as the manager of the Port of Richmond.

Jim lived in Belmont for many years. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marian Faber; his son, Norman Faber; grandson, James Aliamus; and many nieces, nephews, grandniece­s, grandnephe­ws, great-grandniece­s and great-grandnephe­ws.

The Fabers’ beloved daughter, Sally Faber Aliamus, predecease­d Jim. He always held her memory close to his heart.

Jim loved his family and enjoyed spending time at a vacation cabin in Twain Harte. He loved to travel and was an avid 49ers fan. Jim will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 29 at the Congregati­onal Church of San Mateo. The church is located at 225 Tilton Avenue in San Mateo. Family and friends are invited to a reception at the church immediatel­y following the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons can be made in Jim’s name to St. Anthony’s Padua Dining Room, 3500 Middlefiel­d Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025-3099.
