Starcast

Beltane blessings to all. This ancient holiday, better known as May Day, is a festival of flowers, fertility, sensuality and delight. Adding to the pleasure, wayward Mercury has promised to be a better planet — for a while, at least.

Aries (March 19-April 18) Mercury is doing his CEO thing in your sign. This, combined with Jupiter in your contract house, places you directly in the catbird seat. Determine now just who and what you want to be.

Taurus (April 19-May 19) Vibrant Venus has your back, as does merry Mercury. Both are positioned to enter your sign soon. Oh, happy day! Think: hot news, fun parties, high-end creations.

Gemini (May 20-June 19) Long cherished goals are challenged now as friends and colleagues stretch like taffy, pulling you in all directions. Each wants a piece of you. Mercury suggests a naughty teddy bear trick as a remedy.

Cancer (June 20-July) Getting credit for what you do has never topped your priority list. You’re more the virtue-is-its-own-reward type. This week a surprise related to travel or communications pulls an issue together.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 21) You feel twittery, like an understudy squirming for a place in the sun. Hold on tight ’cause that faint toot you hear is the goody train headed your way. Make a wish, check it twice. Summer is your time.

Virgo (Aug. 22-Sept. 21) Currently, personal income and shared resources are prime issues. Some Virgins will get fabulous insights, like how to genetically engineer a cash cow, but others will be thinking more like mad cow.

Libra (Sept. 22-Oct. 21) Mercury turns star maker this week. Contracts — romantic, business or both — are about to play at a theater very near you. Make the most of an opportunity that once fell by the wayside.

Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 20) A wheeling-dealing coup from the past can be reworked to advantage. Mercury does a power trip in your work sector. You demand to be appreciated and will be.

Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) Merry Mercury is cavorting in your fun house. Ride your hobby horse for all it’s worth. The results can morph into something colossal, or a “just for kicks” playmate may drop the “M” word.

Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan.19) Spiritual types believe that retrogrades are the cosmos’ way of teaching us patience. Others say the communication fairy is out to lunch. Either way the message has been: What’s worth doing once is worth doing again and again.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb 17) Your quickness and drive are weapons that lend themselves to networking. With Mercury settled in your communications house, go out, see, be seen, market yourself.

Pisces (Feb. 18-March 19) Miraculous Mercury sweeps into your money house this week, adding more than a touch of magic just where it’s needed most. There have been some slowdowns lately, but the pace is quickening.

Q: I’m a Scorpio born on Nov. 20, 1959. I feel everything has not been that great for at least the past 12 years. Saturn has left my sign, but I still feel he is still there. When do you see changes for me? A: As a Scorp, I certainly feel your pain. Those three Saturn years were one of those “what doesn’t kill me makes me stronger” times. Happily, Saturn won’t be back to that area for nearly 30 years. After leaving Scorpio, he lumbered into our solar money house. The good news: He’s leaving Dec. 29. Happy new year! More good news! Jupiter, planet of luck and expansion, will enter Scorpio on Oct. 10 for a stay of more than a year. This will be a happy period and long remembered.
