Megan Rapinoe

After a busy year, the Redding native is enjoying focusing on soccer. She has two goals with the Seattle Reign through the first four games of the National Women’s Soccer League season. She has stirred controversy by kneeling during the national anthem, which she said was an act of solidarity with ex-49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who knelt during the anthem to call attention to racial inequality. Rapinoe also knelt during the anthem before two nationalteam matches. She said the experience taught her a lot: “I think it only strengthened my resolve and the things I care about.”
