Networks have been falling all over themselves trying to get their specials on the forthcoming 20th anniversary of the death of Princess Diana on the air before the other guys. For the record, she died in August 1997. CBS is among the early birds with tonight’s two-hour special, breathlessly titled “Princess Diana: Her Life — Her Death — The Truth.” It — airs — at — 8 — p.m. James Corden resets his alarm clock to wake up a little earlier today for the CBS special “The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke” at 10 p.m. I will say a car-themed comedy seems an odd follow to the two-hour special on Princess Diana’s death. Also at 8 p.m., the “Fashion Police” offers the awards — the clothes — the truth about Sunday’s “2017 Billboard Music Awards ”on E. The second season of “Supergirl” flies away on the CW at 8 p.m., followed by the third season of “Jane the Virgin ” at 9. New episodes of “Young & Hungry” kick off at 8 p.m. on Freeform. Season 13 of “The Bachelorette” launches on ABC at a special time of 9 p.m. Acorn is havin’ a laugh today with the availability of the third season of “Count Arthur Strong,” only three days after the British premiere. The sitcom stars Steve Delaney as Strong, a delusional, out-of-work actor who believes he is a show business legend. Rory Kinnear co-stars in the show, based on “Count Arthur Strong’s Radio Show.”
A few other Acorn offerings on the horizon: The four-part drama “Delicious,” starring Dawn French, Iain Glen and Emilia Fox, will be available on Friday, May 26. And on Monday, May 29, the Australian drama “800 Words,” and the classic pairing of Judi Dench and Ian McKellen in “Macbeth.” Acorn shows are available at www.acorn.tv.
