Don’t speak too soon

The report:

President Trump is thinking of firing Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

The reaction:

The upshot:

White House has denied the report. Rod Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general who hired Mueller, made plain to Congress that “he’s not going to be fired without good cause. I’m not going to follow any orders unless I believe those are lawful and appropriate orders.”

The report:

Golden State Warriors are going to decline White House visit with President Trump.

The reaction:

Warriors emphatically deny report that a decision has been made. No invitation has been extended.

A tweet from the account claiming to be @GenMikeFlynn called himself a “scapegoat for Russian investigation.”

The reaction:

No hearings required. It was a parody Twitter account.
