Rudolph Thomas Horak

Rudolph Thomas Horak died peacefully in Burlingame, California. He started life in Astoria, Long Island, New York to parents: Rudolph and Lulu Horak. He moved through other Long Island and Massachuse­tts towns to San Francisco in 1959. He was a graduate of New York University where he was a member of Pi Tau Sigma and Tau Beta Pi.

Before retirement Rudy was associated with Lockheed-Missiles & Space Company, Litton-Mellonics, General Electric Company, and Raytheon. He served on the boards of Boy Scout Troop 156, the Burlingame University Club, San Francisco Knights of the Red Garter, the Burlingame Citizens Oversight Committee, and was named THE BEST OF BURLINGAME in 2007 for his avocation of charities in the Bay Area. He was instrument­al in starting the first Burlingame Pet Parade in Burlingame in 2004. Rudy was a long-time member of the LOS TRANCOS WOODS COMMUNITY MARCHING BAND as well as a long-time volunteer on the SS JEREMIAH O’BRIEN, a WWII Liberty Ship.

Rudy celebrated his love of trains, parades, and carnivals by combining them into a one-man show to the delight of every child he met!

He is survived by his wife, Farris, of 57 years and by sons Brad (Michelle) and Craig (Kelly) and grandsons Andrew and Alex.

Memorial services will be held at the First Presbyteri­an Church, Burlingame, Tuesday, July 11th at 2PM.
