Imelda Agnes Murtha (Nee Kehoe)

Imelda Murtha, loving wife and mother. A native of Butte, Montana, who was born on January 17, 1926, died peacefully in San Francisco on June 27, 2017. Imelda was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Agnes Kehoe, her brother Charles Kehoe and by her loving husband of 48 years, Richard F. Murtha (a WWII Silver and Bronze Star recipient of the 101st Airborne Division). Loving Mother of Michealyn (Dale) Lang, Luann (Jim) Lynch and Creighton (Joanne) Murtha. Loving grandmothe­r of Theresa Brockmeyer, Nicole Booth, Regina (Marshal) Hampton, Richard, and Laura Lynch, Richard, Danielle, and Devin Murtha. Adored great grandmothe­r of Tyler, Trey, Kayla, Dylan, Mackenzie, and Georgia. She was the proud greatgreat grandmothe­r of 4. She also leaves numerous relatives throughout the country. In 1962 Imelda, Rich and their children headed to San Francisco from Butte to join her parents and her brother, to stake their claim in San Francisco. Imelda’s career was in business, where she worked for BofA, and retired from UCSF. Imelda and Rich raised their family in the Sunset District, where she also cared for her widowed mother. Rich and Imelda remained there until their sunset and passing. Imelda will be fondly remembered for her sweet smile, her commitment to family and most of all, her devotion to the Lord. During her last years she was able to spend several months living in the homes of each of her children, in addition to being cared for, in her home, by her daughter Michealyn and Dale. The family would like to also thank Tina and the staff of Kaiser Hospice, as well as the caring staff of Alma Via and Coming Home Hospice for their care and loving dedication to Mom! Friends may visit on Sunday July 2, 2017 (today) from 4:00 to 7:00 at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave. Daly City, where a vigil will be held at 5:00 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Cecilia Church, 17th Ave @ Vicente on Monday July 3rd at 11:00 A.M. A private family interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial donations in Imelda’s name may be made to Coming Home Hospice/CPMC Foundation, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
