Lena Urbanus (nee Ginilo)

Lena was a native San Franciscan. She was born on July 20, 1921 to the late Vittorio and Maria Ginilo. She passed away on June 25, 2017 at the age of 95, a month short of 96.

Lena was the cherished mother of Victoria Seelig and dear mother-in-law of Stephen Seelig. She was always a special and loving Nonna to David Seelig, Stephen V. Seelig and Alessandra Seelig. She was the beloved sister of George Ginilo and his wife Janet, the late Ann Ginilo (2008) and Olga Ginilo (2004). Lena was the treasured aunt of George, David, Lorrie, Donna and Diane.

Lena was a graduate of Balboa High School and Cogswell College. She worked many years for the Federal Government, retired and then went back to work for 5 more years for the California Coastal Commission before retiring for good. The family would like to thank Jolie Higgins, Stephanie Howard and the staff at Regency of Evergreen in San Jose and VITAS Hospice for the devoted care they gave to Lena during her residence there for many years.

Family and friends may visit on Monday July 10, 2017 from 5:00PM to 9:00PM, and are invited to attend a Vigil Service also on Monday at 7:00PM all at the chapels of Valente Marini Perata & Co. 4840 Mission St., SF. Family and friends are also invited to attend the celebratio­n of the Funeral Mass on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 10:00AM at Corpus Christi Church, 62 Santa Rosa Ave. SF followed by the Committal Service at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.
