Jeff Tweedy

On “Together at Last,” Jeff Tweedy hits pause. Two decades into a career driven by relentless innovation, this first installment in a planned series of acoustic sessions finds the Wilco frontman revisiting 11 songs he previously recorded with the band, as well as side projects like Loose Fur and Golden Smog. “Laminated Cat” and “Ashes of American Flags” are given a campfire makeover, stripped down to just his frayed voice and intricate finger-picking. It’s a curious exercise but one that gives fans an opportunity to find a deeper appreciation for Tweedy’s easy way with melodies and sharp lyrical prowess. And if it helps him reconnect with the muse that inspired songs like “I’m Trying to Break Your Heart,” all the better.
