Ian Clark set to join Pelicans

-

Ian Clark, who had careerbest averages of 6.8 points and 1.3 rebounds in 77 games as a backup guard with the Warriors last season, agreed to a one-year, $1.6 million deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, The Vertical reported Tuesday.

Clark, 26, earned slightly more than $1 million last season. He began his NBA career with Utah in 2013. He spent the past two seasons with the Warriors. The Warriors are keeping all three of their centers from a championship season, officially re-signing 7-footer JaVale McGee.

McGee emerged as a reliable option in Steve Kerr’s threecenter rotation featuring starter Zaza Pachulia and reserve David West, both of whom also received new contracts.

McGee averaged 6.1 points and 3.2 rebounds, playing 9.6 minutes in 77 games with 10 starts while shooting a careerbest 65.2 percent from the floor last season.

Washington Mystics forward Elena Delle Donne, a WNBA All-Star, tore a ligament in her left thumb and will be sidelined at least two weeks, the team announced.

In a WNBA game, Kayla Alexander scored 19 points to lead the host San Antonio Stars to a 93-61 win over the New York Liberty.
