Coveted big man will attend Duke
Duke has signed top high school prospect Marvin Bagley III and said he will enroll for this year’s fall semester.
Team spokesman Cory Walton said Bagley signed his financial-aid agreement Tuesday, one day after a nationally televised ceremony during which he committed to the Blue Devils.
At 6-foot-11, Bagley was widely considered the top recruit of the 2018 recruiting class. He petitioned the NCAA last month to reclassify and become college eligible for the upcoming season. NBA: The Indiana Pacers signed 37-year-old swingman Damien Wilkins and rookie forward Ben Moore. Terms were not released.
Wilkins last played in the NBA in 2012-13 with Philadelphia, where he averaged 6.3 points and 2.4 rebounds. Since leaving the 76ers, he has played in China, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and the NBA’s development league.
The 6-8 Moore averaged 11.4 points and 7.8 rebounds last season as a senior at SMU. He will be designated an affiliate player with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA G League.
The Raptors announced they have signed former Gonzaga forward Kyle Wiltjer, a month after he was waived by the Clippers. The dual citizen of the U.S. and Canada scored 13 points in 14 games with the Rockets last season.
Colleges: The first woman to sue Baylor University over allegations the nation’s largest Baptist school ignored or mishandled rape allegations has settled her case, her attorney said.
Jasmin Hernandez sued Baylor in early 2016, two months before the school released the results of an internal investigation that found Baylor had mishandled rape or assault cases for years and the football program acted as if it was “above the rules.”
Baylor fired football coach Art Briles, demoted university President Ken Starr and reprimanded athletic director Ian McCaw in May 2016.
