He is survived by his wife, Madeline, daughter, Jeanie, son, Jay, father, Bill Horton, his two sisters, Kris Heath (Bruce) and Kathy Rose (Rob), his mother-in-law, Fredi May and his Aunt Shirlea Savage. He is predeceased by his Mother, Jeanne.

He attended Atkinson grade school and Franklin high school in Portland. He obtained his teaching degree from the University of Oregon and later received a Masters in Counseling. Tim taught school in Portland and eventually moved to California where he taught high school in San Jose.

He moved to Berkeley and worked for the city’s Youth Employment Program.

Jazz enthusiast that he was, he met his wife, Madeline May, at a jazz club in Oakland. They married in 1987. Their beautiful daughter, Jeanie, was born in 1990.

Changing careers, he bought and ran a small business until 2001 when he decided to go back to teaching. He chose an inner-city grade school with low-income children in East Oakland to do his greater good.

Many a party was had at the Horton house with family and friends and always a sports channel on.

The Hortons traveled as often as possible to Europe, Canada, long road trips to all four corners on the US and in between. Every single summer Tahoe and Sunriver were on the calendar.

Tim was a planner and always had a fun agenda for nights out on the town and future vacations.

He was a solid, happy guy who was seldom known to ever complain. Happy-golucky.

He was a voracious reader and a New York Times crossword puzzle pro. He played a mean game of Scrabble and Cribbage. He was a longtime fan of the Giants, Warriors and Oregon Ducks.

Tim was a favorite uncle to eighteen nieces and nephews: Nathan Heath (Chelsea), Ryan Heath and Micah Heath (Bethany), Jake Rose and Jonah Rose, Christophe Adrian, Olivier Adrian (Sophal), Jeremie Adrian, Tessa Adrian (Antoine) Brendan Vandor, Caitlin May, Zoe May, Cody May, Lewis May, Jackson May, Ella May, and Hugo May.
