Stunningly stylish in Sausalito

Take in beautiful bay views from a 65-foot deck

- By Jordan Guinn

A breathtaking custom contemporary in Sausalito perched 1,000 feet above sea level offers views of the Golden Gate, Bay and San Rafael bridges. Located at 61 Wolfback Ridge, the seductively stylish two story stands as a testament to refined design with its imported finishes, smart home amenities, world-class vistas and exacting attention to detail.

“Every room in this modern masterpiece focuses on one vast, breathtaking panoramic vista,” said Mark Rushford of Caldwell Banker, who is listing the five bedroom for $6.75 million.

Honduran mahogany wraps around floor-to-ceiling windows framing views of Richardson and San Francisco bays. Windows are commercial grade and feature piano hinges, and a ribbon flame Spark fireplace helps warm the open floor plan. Located just west of Highway 101, the residence rests north of the Marin Headlands.

“You’re set up in nature with spectacular views, and the hiking trails of the Golden Gate’s recreation area are just outside your door,” Rushford said.

Radiant heat terrazzo floors with aluminum baseboards adorn the interior, and new hardware is found throughout the home built in 2009 and updated in 2011. A dramatic chef ’s kitchen employs a Decor range and Sub-Zero refrigerator, while absolute-black granite countertops contrast against maple cabinetry with a cherry finish.

Outdoor spaces are highlighted by a 65-foot deck off the great room. This sprawling deck includes a heated seating area and overlooks the water. In clear weather, Oakland’s and San Francisco’s skylines are visible in the distance.

Though some may have concerns about the weather along Wolfback Ridge, Rushford assuages any concerns about wind and chill. Siting the home in a hillside cutout provides protection from the elements.

“This home is set in a wind protected microclimate and does not experience the same weather as homes to either side of it,” he said.

The listing also includes a detached one-bedroom guest house bearing a similar architectural style to the main home.
