Train collision: A commuter train crashed into a parked train at a suburban Philadelphia terminal early Tuesday, injuring dozens of passengers and the train’s operator, a transit spokeswoman said. None of the 42 people hurt in the crash suffered life-threatening injuries, said Heather Redfern, a spokeswoman for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority. “Some were considered walking wounded,” she said.

Drug database: Utah will obey a court order to let the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration search a prescription-drug database without a warrant, despite a state law designed to protect patient privacy. The state disagrees with the ruling that found that people can’t expect privacy in the highly regulated prescription-drug industry, but state attorneys have decided not to appeal after reviewing similar cases, said Utah attorney general’s office spokesman Dan Burton. A federal appeals court also sided with the DEA in a case involving subpoenas of Oregon’s prescription-drug database.

Water rescues: Several streets were flooded and blocked off from traffic in the Kansas City area on Tuesday after overnight rains pounded the region, prompting numerous rescues of stranded motorists and others who scrambled to safety atop rooftops. Kansas City’s police and fire departments reported receiving more than 130 calls for water rescues, with dozens of others fielded in the suburbs. There were no immediate reports of deaths linked to the deluge, which the National Weather Service said dumped recordbreaking rainfall in some areas.

Cosby retrial: Bill Cosby’s retrial on sexual assault charges in Pennsylvania will be delayed as his new legal team gets up to speed on the case. Montgomery County Judge Steven O’Neill on Tuesday granted a defense request to postpone the retrial, which had been scheduled to start in November, saying there’s no way the 80year-old comedian’s lawyers would be ready by then. “The Cosby Show” star is charged with drugging and molesting a woman at his home near Philadelphia in 2004. His first trial in June ended in a hung jury.

Ranch standoff: A federal jury in Las Vegas refused Tuesday to convict four accused gunmen in a 2014 standoff with federal authorities near the Nevada ranch of states’ rights figure Cliven Bundy. In a verdict that delivered a stunning setback to federal prosecutors, the jury acquitted Ricky Lovelien and Steven Stewart of all 10 charges against them. Defendants Scott Drexler and Eric Parker were found not guilty of most charges against them.

Eclipse arrest: Authorities in Florida said Tuesday that an auto theft suspect who wanted to watch the moon blot out the sun instead has a blot on his record. The Orange County Sheriff ’s Office said Jocsan Rosado was arrested Monday after he parked a stolen car to watch the eclipse.
