Ogwumike, Gray lead Sparks to win

Stanford alumnus Nneka Ogwumike had 22 points and 14 rebounds, helping the Los Angeles Sparks beat the visiting San Antonio Stars 75-55 in a WNBA game.

Hayward native Chelsea Gray, who played at Duke, added 17 points for the Sparks (22-8), who have won nine of 11.

Maya Moore scored 21 points, Jia Perkins had 18 and the host Minnesota Lynx beat the Phoenix Mercury 105-69. The Lynx (23-6) hit a season-high 12 three-pointers.

Courts: Records from Venus Williams’ cell phone will be given to attorneys representi­ng the family of a 78-year-old Florida man who died after a June car crash with the tennis player.

The Sun Sentinel reported that an agreement for the records was reached prior to a court hearing in a lawsuit filed against Williams. Jerome Barson’s family sought the records to find out if Williams was on the phone and distracted just prior to the crash.

Williams’ lawyers said they will turn over phone records that span a 2½-hour period before and after the June 6 crash.

Doping: Therese Johaug, a former Olympic champion, World Cup winner and seven-time world champion in cross-country skiing, will miss the 2018 Winter Olympics after her ban was extended in a doping case involving a steroid in lip balm.

Johaug, 29, is barred from racing until mid-April. The Pyeongchan­g Games are set for South Korea in February. She tested positive for an anabolic agent listed in the contents of a treatment for sunburn, and a Court of Arbitratio­n for Sport panel said Tuesday that an 18-month ban was “appropriat­e.”

Cycling: Matteo Trentin of Italy won a sprint finish to claim the 123-mile fourth stage of the Spanish Vuelta, from Andorra to the coastal city of Tarragona. Chris Froome kept his overall race lead.

Obituary: Rafael “Felo” Ramirez, a Hall of Fame baseball radio broadcaste­r who was the signature voice for millions of Spanishspe­aking sports fans over three decades, has died. He was 94.
