The Bay Area is gearing up for a series of political events this weekend that have law enforcement authorities on edge, including far-right gatherings in San Francisco and Berkeley and a number of counterdemonstrations.
SATURDAY
Press conference: Scheduled for 2 p.m. at Alamo Square Park in San Francisco after the organizer, Patriot Prayer, canceled a controversial rally at Crissy Field. Information: http://bit.ly/2w5rOLn

Diversity rally: Counterprotest to Patriot Prayer, featuring music performers including Michael Franti and Spearhead. Noon to 5 p.m. at Civic Center Plaza in San Francisco.
Interfaith gathering: An interfaith gathering in response to Patriot Prayer and the No Marxism in Berkeley rally on Sunday. The gathering takes place from noon to 2 p.m. at Grace Cathedral, 1100 California St. in San Francisco.

Counterprotests to anti-Marxism rally: One group of counterprotesters plans to gather at 11 a.m. at Ohlone Park, corner of Hearst Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Way, and march to Civic Center Park, site of antiMarxism rally.
