Games of the Week

- — Mitch Stephens

Note: The starting times for these games are subject to change because of the heat expected in the Bay Area this weekend.

FRIDAY

Half Moon Bay (1-0) at Palo Alto (0-1), 7 p.m.: Tiny Half Moon Bay, 23-4 since 2014, shows it wants to compete with the big boys. Analy-Sebastopol at No. 21 Rancho Cotate-Rohnert Park, 7:30 p.m.: Over-under is triple digits (talking points, not temperature). No. 22 San Leandro (1-0) at Liberty-Brentwood (0-1), 7 p.m.: Liberty won a 22-21 barnburner last year against the Pirates. St. Mary’s-Stockton (1-0) at No. 15 Cardinal Newman-Santa Rosa (1-0), 7 p.m.: Newman won’t see speed like this again all season. Palma-Salinas (0-0) at No. 3 St. Francis (1-0), 7:30 p.m.: New St. Francis running tandem of Lucas Andrighetto (6 carries, 109 yards, TD last week) and Darrell Page (17-105-2) looks just fine. St. Ignatius (1-0) at No. 14 Campolindo-Moraga (0-1), 8 p.m.: Campolindo hasn’t lost two straight since 2010.

SATURDAY

Central Catholic-Modesto (1-0) at No. 10 Marin Catholic-Kentfield (1-0), 2 p.m.: No motivation needed for Marin Catholic, which ended the 2015 season and started 2016 with lopsided losses (42-16 and 49-14, respectively) to the state small-school powerhouse from the Sac-Joaquin Section. No. 4 Serra (0-1) at Elk Grove (0-1), 7:15 p.m.: The Padres make a return trip to another SJS school but hope to fare better than last week’s 41-13 loss to St. Mary’s-Stockton.
