National Geographic Channel will air the twopart fictionalized film “The State,” at 9 p.m. Directed by “Wolf Hall’s” Peter Kosminsky, the film is about a young man named Jalal (Sam Otto) who goes to Raqqa, Syria, to fight for the Islamic State; his brother has already joined. The film also follows the stories of a physician and single mother named Shakira (Ony Uhiara) who supports the Islamic State, and a teenager (Shavani Seth) who has been radicalized online. The concluding half of the miniseries will air on Tuesday, Sept. 19. “Dancing With the Stars” premieres season 25 at 8 p.m on ABC. The first season of “Gone: The Forgotten Women of Ohio” ends on Spike TV at 8:30 p.m. Starz airs the timely documentary “The Age of Consequences,” looking at the long-range and often irreversible impact of climate change, depleted resources, migration and human conflict. The film airs at 9 p.m. It’s lights out for the first season of “Midnight, Texas,” at 10 p.m. on NBC. The second season of ABC ’s“Truth and Lies” wraps at 10:01 p.m. with a look at the Laci Peterson murder. Acorn TV adds seasons one through five of “The Commander,” created by “Prime Suspect’s” Lynda La Plante and starring Amanda Burton as an ambitious young police commander. Guest stars include Hugh Bonneville, James D’Arcy, Celia Imrie and Simon Williams. Also added to Acorn’s offerings today are episodes three and four of “Newton’s Law.” Go to www.acorn.tv for information.
