Judith L. Burlison, 77, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2017 at the home of her son in Oakland, California.

Mrs. Burlison had recently moved to California and was originally from Texas where she taught for over thirty years, the majority of which at Forest Park Middle School in Longview.

After teaching Mrs. Burlison retired to the nearby community of Gladewater where she served on the Gladewater City Council and the board of the Friends of Lee Library and the Gladewater Garden Club. She was also a member of St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church in Longview and St. Clement’s Episcopal Church in Berkeley, California.

In 2013, she was selected as one of the “Stars Over Longview,” sponsored by Longview Regional Medical Center for her unequivoca­l service and selfless dedication to making a difference in improving the lives of Longview’s citizens and the community as a whole.

Mrs. Burlison and her late husband Delbert, who also served on the Gladewater City Council, worked tirelessly to improve the world for others. They started the Gladewater Recycle effort – a project that continues to grow today.

Mrs. Burlison was a teacher, leader and inspiratio­n to many and will be cherished and missed by all that knew her. She was born in Houston on March 2nd, 1940 to Edward and Virginia Brisbois. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shellye and Chris Clodfelter of Longview; son and daughter-in-law, Brett and Teresa Burlison of the Oakland, California; grandsons, Christophe­r Clodfelter and Matthew Huvar; and, sister and nephew, Joan Brisbois and Joshua Dumatrait of Panama.
