Club shooting: Seven people were wounded early Sunday in a shooting at a nightclub in Gary, Ind., authorities said. Detective Sgt. William Fazekas said most of the victims were in stable condition, but one was taken to a Chicago hospital with more serious injuries. Police found four male and three female victims at Dirtty’s Jazz and Blues Club. An eighth person was hurt while trying to get to safety. One man involved in the shooting was taken into custody, and officers were seeking another, Fazekas said.

Children hurt: About 20 children were injured when a stairwell collapsed at an indoor paintball course in San Diego, authorities said. The injuries were minor, but a woman had to be dug out from under the rubble at the center Saturday night. Parents rushed to the area to find their children. One parent said the stairwell collapsed when dozens of children ran up and down to get pizza from a loft.

Space launch: A stash of frozen treats and other supplies rocketed toward the International Space Station on Sunday from Virginia’s eastern shore. NASA’s commercial shipper, Orbital ATK, launched the cargo ship from Wallops Island aboard an unmanned Antares rocket. The Cygnus capsule should reach the orbiting lab Tuesday. It’s loaded with 7,400 pounds of cargo, including sweet treats for the six station astronauts. A launch attempt was scrubbed Saturday after a plane strayed into the restricted airspace. SpaceX is NASA’s other prime supplier. Its next station delivery is in December.

Artwork returned: The New York Police Department wants to question a woman caught on video mailing stolen art back to the Museum of Modern Art. Police said the woman was seen on surveillance video at a shipping store Thursday as she mailed two stolen photographs valued at $105,000. They were packaged in a large box she carried into the store. Police say the two print photographs were found to be missing from the Manhattan museum around midday Monday. There were no signs of forced entry into the building. The pictures arrived by mail back at the museum Friday.

Cats stolen: A Rhode Island animal care clinic and shelter says a former employee broke into the clinic and stole 33 cats last week. Care for Animals and PAAWS Rhode Island said the theft was reported to police. The shelter in Warwick said the recently terminated employee took the cats because she wanted to retaliate against the facility for losing her job.
