2 Cleveland shooting: One boy was killed and five others were wounded Friday night in a shooting in Cleveland. Police were searching for suspects who “fired shots and took off running,” said Chief Calvin Williams. The six victims ranged in age from 12 to 16. The boy who died, Abdel Latif Bashiti, was 12. Williams said investigators believed the attackers were teenagers or younger, but said “we don’t know exactly what spurred this or what happened.”

3 Agent slain: Services were held Saturday for a Border Patrol agent in Texas who died nearly a week ago from head and other injuries. A private funeral mass took place in El Paso for Agent Rogelio Martinez. The cause of his death last Sunday remains under investigation. His partner, whose name has not been released, was also seriously injured. Both agents were found Nov. 18 in a culvert near Van Horn, 30 miles from the border with Mexico and 110 miles southeast of El Paso. Speculation about the incident has run rampant, with several politicians calling it an attack and promoting the building of a wall on the border with Mexico.

4 Deadly pursuit: A police chase in Anaheim ended with a head-on crash that killed two people. The Orange County Sheriff ’s Department said deputies went to Villa Park on Thursday after receiving a call about suspicious people knocking on doors. When police arrived, three people took off in a Ford Focus. During the chase, a pillowcase was thrown out of the car window. Authorities say it was later found to contain jewelry and a laptop apparently stolen in a burglary. A few minutes after the chase began, the car crossed into oncoming traffic in Anaheim and struck a sport utility vehicle. The Focus driver and another man in the car died. A female passenger and the SUV driver were injured but are expected to survive.

5 Teen detained: A Florida teenager trying to enter Canada has been detained by U.S. border patrol agents who want to interview him in connection with the suspected death of his grandmother. The Jacksonville Sheriff ’s Office said the 15-year-old was stopped near Buffalo, N.Y. Officials started looking for the boy and his 53-year-old grandmother Wednesday after they failed to pick up the teen’s father at the airport. When the father got to his home, he found it had been ransacked. His mother’s home was also ransacked. Weapons were missing from both homes, and the grandmother’s car was gone. Officials said a body that matched the grandmother’s description was found in a shallow grave. Officials were waiting for an autopsy for a positive identification.
