A true San Franciscan at heart, “Fely G” graduated from Polytechnic High School and Mary’s Help School of Nursing. Her life in The City was filled with community and political activities with her former husband Don Horanzy, raising a family and a nursing career at St Francis Memorial Hospital. She took great pride in being a Registered Nurse and fought passionately for greater respect for the profession. As a leader organizing a strong nurses union in the 1970s, she spent many late nights on the negotiation team and was heartbroken in the 1990s when CNA was “hijacked” by Kaiser nurses and SEIU. Those who know her will remember her love of the SF Giants & 49ers, singing, traveling, casino trips, reading the newspaper, sci-fi & fantasy books, chinese food, pizza, hats & jewelry.

Funeral Services will include a Visitation & Vigil on Wed., Nov 29 at 6:30pm at North Sacramento Funeral Home, 725 El Camino Ave., Sacramento and a Mass of Christian Burial on Thurs., Nov 30 at 11am at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 2231 Club Center Dr., Sacramento. (Please arrive early to view if desired.) A reception will follow the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, please send tax-deductible donations to Pioneer Towers where she lived her retirement years. Donations will help achieve Fely’s most-hoped-for lottery purchase: a new van to transport residents to/from appointments, field trips & shopping. Pioneer Towers, 515 P St., Sacramento, CA 95814.
