Theodore Martin Weicker

Theodore Martin Weicker passed away peacefully at his home in San Mateo with his loving wife Judy at his side. He was 89.

Born in France, he was the eldest of four children born to Lowell Palmer Weicker and Mary Hastings Bickford. Upon returning to New York, Ted attended The Buckley School and Culver Military Academy before entering Yale University where he graduated in 1950 with a degree in Economics. From there he joined the U.S. Marine Corps as a 1st Lieutenant and went on to be a tank platoon leader in the 1st Marine Division in Korea, attaining the rank of Captain. Following his military service, Ted joined the General Electric Co. where he was employed for 28 years, primarily as the West Coast District Sales Manager.

Ted was an avid fisherman, played squash at the Olympic Club, and later, tennis at the Burlingame Country Club. He loved Dixieland Jazz festivals, Giants’ games, anything Elvis, and traveling with Judy during their 33 years of marriage. Ted was a member of First Presbyteri­an Church of Burlingame for 25 years where he also served as an elder.

Although suffering from the effects of a 2010 stroke, Ted remained upbeat and cheerful until his death. Many thanks to Soana and Vi for their compassion­ate caregiving during Ted’s last few years. He was predecease­d by his parents, daughter Lindsay, and brother Harold. He is survived by his wife Judy, brother Lowell P. Weicker Jr, sister Mary Audrey Mellor, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyteri­an Church of Burlingame, 1500 Easton Dr, Burlingame, CA 94010 on Thursday, November 30 at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ted’s memory may be made to First Presbyteri­an Church of Burlingame or to Mission Hospice and Home Care 1670 So. Amphlett Blvd. #300 San Mateo, CA 94402.
