DETROIT — Warriors reserve guard Patrick McCaw has been ruled out of Friday night’s game against the Pistons with a nose contusion and concussion.

McCaw didn’t return to Monday’s win over New Orleans after getting knocked in the nose by DeMarcus Cousins on a dunk attempt midway through the second quarter. After entering the NBA’s concussion protocol, McCaw missed Wednesday night’s win over Charlotte.

There is no timetable to complete the protocol, and recovery times vary based on the player and injury.

Center Zaza Pachulia (left shoulder soreness) is questionable for Friday’s game in Detroit, while forwards Draymond Green (right shoulder soreness) and Andre Iguodala (sore left knee) are probable.

Pachulia did not return Wednesday after heading to the locker room with a recurrence of shoulder pain less than five minutes in. Asked later whether he expects to play Friday in Detroit, Pachulia said he “most likely” won’t.

“The fact that he had a couple days off, then came back, played and aggravated it again, I can’t imagine playing him, against Andre Drummond, especially,” head coach Steve Kerr said of Pachulia, who was scheduled to undergo an MRI exam Thursday.

Green went through practice Thursday afternoon at University of Detroit Mercy. Before meeting with reporters, he had his right shoulder heavily wrapped.

“We’ll see how he does,” Kerr said of Green. “He’ll be a game-time decision tomorrow.”

Green missed Wednesday’s 101-87 win in Charlotte. In his absence, Jordan Bell earned his second career start, posting no points, five rebounds, four assists and three blocks in 20 minutes.

Iguodala has dealt with soreness in his left knee throughout the season. With Warriors point guard Stephen Curry expected to miss at least two weeks with a sprained right ankle, Iguodala has assumed more ball-handling duties. Homecoming: The Warriors’ trip is a bit of a homecoming for two players — Flint, Mich., native JaVale McGee and Saginaw, Mich., native Draymond Green — and playerdevelopment coach Willie Green, a Detroit native.

Green starred for four seasons at Detroit Mercy before the Seattle SuperSonics took him in the second round — No. 41 overall — in the 2003 NBA Draft. With Golden State in need of somewhere to practice Thursday, he organized for the team to work out at Calihan Hall, Detroit Mercy’s on-campus arena.

“I had so many fun times here,” Green said. “Obviously, it gave me a great platform to be able to start my college career. I had some tremendous coaches, and my friends and family had an opportunity to see me play, staying here in Detroit. I think the ultimate goal was to get to the NBA, and coming here allowed me to do that.”
