Texas Tech gets OT win at buzzer

Keenan Evans, who scored 38 points, beat the overtime buzzer with a jumper to lift No. 10 Texas Tech past visiting Texas 73-71 on Wednesday.

After missing a potential winning free throw with 3.4 seconds left in regulation, Evans scored six points in overtime for the Red Raiders (18-4, 6-3 Big 12). His winning 18-foot jumper from atop the key came after the Longhorns tied the game on a banked three by Kerwin Roach.

Texas (14-8, 4-5) overcame a 13-point deficit in the final 13 minutes of regulation.

#2 Virginia 74, Louisville 64: Kyle Guy scored 22 points and the host Cavaliers (21-1, 10-0 ACC) won their 13th straight. Ray Spalding scored 16 points for the Cardinals (16-6, 6-3).

#3 Purdue 75, Maryland 67: Isaac Haas had 20 points and nine rebounds as the host Boilermake­rs (22-2, 11-0 Big Ten) extended the nation’s longest active win streak to 18 games. Bruno Fernando finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Terrapins (15-9, 4-7).

#5 Michigan State 76, Penn State 68: Miles Bridges had 23 points and nine rebounds to help the host Spartans (21-3, 9-2 Big Ten) rally from a double-digit deficit. The Nittany Lions (15-9, 5-6) had won two straight.

#8 Cincinnati 80, Houston 70: Jacob Evans III scored 18 points as the Bearcats (20-2, 9-0 American Athletic) rallied from an 18-point deficit to extend the nation’s longest home winning streak to 38 games. The Cougars (16-5, 6-3) fell to 0-16 on the Bearcats’ home court.

#9 72: Arizona Deandre 100, Ayton Washington had 25 points State and 11 rebounds as the visiting Wildcats (19-4, 9-1) remained atop the Pac-12 by winning their seventh in a row. Robert Franks scored 25 for the Cougars (9-12, 1-8), who have dropped 13 in a row to Arizona.

Iowa State 93, #15 West Virginia 77: Cameron Lard had 18 points and 13 rebounds as the host Cyclones (12-9, 3-6 Big 12) sent the Mountainee­rs (16-6, 5-4) to their fifth loss in six games.

#18 Tennesee 84, LSU 61: James Daniel III scored 17 points off the bench as the host Volunteers (16-5, 6-3 SEC) won their fourth straight. The Tigers (12-9, 3-6) have lost five of six.

UNLV 76, San Jose State 67: Brandon McCoy had 22 points and 17 rebounds for the host Rebels (16-6, 5-4 Mountain West). Ryan Welage led the Spartans (3-18, 0-10) with 21 points.

WOMEN

#3 Baylor 77, #23 Oklahoma State 64: Lauren Cox had 23 points and nine rebounds, Kalani Brown added 19 points and 18 rebounds, and the host Lady Bears (20-1, 10-0 Big 12) won their 17th straight. Baylor couldn’t shake the Cowgirls (15-6, 6-4) until a 10-2 run midway through the fourth.

#8 Texas 55, Kansas 41: Ariel Atkins had 16 points and the visiting Longhorns (17-4, 8-2 Big 12) pulled away late. Christalah Lyons led the Jayhawks (11-11, 2-9) with 18 points.

UNLV 80, San Jose State 53: Katie Powell had 28 points for the visiting Rebels (12-8, 7-2 Mountain West) and Megan Anderson led the Spartans (6-15, 3-7) with 12.
