Sheeran books AT&T Park show

Ed Sheeran has added a handful of dates to his previously announced 2018 stadium tour, including a stop at AT&T Park on Aug. 21.

The British pop star was originally looking to book his Bay Area concert at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara on the same date (a spot frequented by his good friend and duet partner Taylor Swift) but dropped the venue due to the City Council’s 10 p.m. weeknight curfew.

Tickets for the San Francisco concert, which range in price from $39.50 to $125, go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16.

In addition to the AT&T Park show, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter also added dates at Detroit’s Ford Field (Sept. 8), Pittsburgh’s PNC Park (Sept. 30), Chicago’s Soldier Field (Oct. 4), Nashville’s Nissan Stadium (Oct. 6) and Milwaukee’s Miller Park (Oct. 23), as well as second stops at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass. (Sept. 14) and MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. (Sept. 21).

These will be the final dates that Sheeran, 26, performs in support of his third studio album, 2017’s “÷ (Divide),” which includes the hit singles “Shape of You” and “Perfect.” It was the most popular album on streaming services last year, according to Nielsen data.

In January, he announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Cherry Seaborn. Aidin Vaziri is The San Francisco Chronicle’s pop music critic. Email: avaziri@sfchronicle.com Twitter: @MusicSF
