Ferrari, Dons stop Pacific

Frankie Ferrari, the WCC’s reigning Player of the Week, had a team-high 15 points and a career-high 13 assists to lead USF to an 84-74 win over Pacific in Stockton on Thursday night.

The Dons (17-13, 9-8) picked up their third straight win as four players besides Ferrari scored in double figures: Chase Foster had 13 points, Jimbo Lull (6-for-7 from the floor) had 12 and Jordan Ratinho and Remu Raitanen each had 11.

The Tigers’ Roberto Gallinat poured in 41 points, the most by any WCC player this season. The guard went 12-for-19 from the floor and 14-for-17 from the line. Pacific fell to 14-16, 9-8.

LMU 65, Santa Clara 64: At the Leavey Center, KJ Feagin scored 29 points but missed what would have been a game-winning three-point try just before the buzzer as the Broncos (11-18, 8-9) fell to the Lions (9-19, 4-13), who got a double-double (19 points, 12 rebounds) from center Mattias Markusson.

WOMEN

St. Mary’s 82, Pepperdine 75: Megan McKay had 30 points and eight rebounds, Stella Beck had 20 points and nine boards and Sydney Raggio had 18 points and 11 rebounds as the visiting Gaels (19-9, 12-5) topped the Waves (9-18, 5-12).

USF 80, Pacific 78: Kalyn Simon broke a 78-78 tie with a foul shot with four seconds remaining and then converted another one as the Dons (14-14, 9-8) prevailed on the Hilltop. The Tigers (13-15, 7-10) had gotten even with 22 seconds remaining on a jumper by GeAnna Luaulu-Summers, a Sacred Heart Cathedral grad. Michaela Rakova had 22 points and 12 rebounds for USF. The Dons’ Anna Seilund also scored 22 points.

LMU 64, Santa Clara 45: The Broncos (9-19, 5-12) led 32-25 at halftime but were outscored 17-1 in the third quarter by the host Lions (18-10, 10-7).
