Chiefs to deal Peters to Rams

The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to trade Pro Bowl cornerback Marcus Peters, an Oakland native, to the Los Angeles Rams for what is expected to be a package of draft picks, according to published reports. The Chiefs have been aggressive­ly seeking to trade Peters, an All-Pro during the 2016 season, as part of both a youth movement and shift in locker room culture.

Jaguars coach Doug Marrone, executive vice president of operations Tom Coughlin and general manager Dave Caldwell were all awarded two-year extensions through the 2021 season. The Jaguars also cut running back Chris Ivory.

Kellen Moore is the new quarterbac­ks coach for the Dallas Cowboys after spending the past three seasons as the backup to Tony Romo and then Dak Prescott. Moore was one of eight new coaches and two promotions announced by Dallas.

The Raiders have been awarded four sixth-round compensato­ry picks in the upcoming NFL Draft, giving them 11 selections in total. Compensato­ry picks are awarded to teams who lost more high-value free agents the previous year than they signed. The Raiders were one of four teams to receive a league-high four picks, along with the Bengals, Cowboys and Packers.

Linebacker David Harris, second on the New York Jets’ all-time tackles list, retired after 11 seasons. Harris, a bit player for the Patriots last season, earned the nickname “The Hitman” for his penchant for punishing ball carriers. Swimming scandal: A top official for USA Swimming who was part of a probe of a coach for sexual misconduct has resigned for not disclosing that she once kissed the coach. Susan Woessner was the senior director of Safe Sport for the national governing body. She says “on a single occasion” in 2007 she kissed Sean Hutchison, who then a coach in the organizati­on. Settlement: The United States Tennis Associatio­n and Canadian player Eugenie Bouchard reached a settlement in her liability lawsuit, ending a trial at which she testified about slipping and falling on a wet locker room floor at the 2015 U.S. Open and suffering a head injury. Motor sports: Kyle Busch won the pole for the second race of the NASCAR Cup season, edging Ryan Newman in a close battle at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Rookie Darrell “Bubba” Wallace Jr., who finished second Sunday in the Daytona 500, qualified 19th. Gymnastics: Romanian gymnasts who trained under former U.S. Olympic coaches Bela and Martha Karolyi told the AP that the duo starved and beat them in pursuit of an ideal athlete. The Karolyis’ attorney denies the pair abused anyone.
