Boutique wineries

Manetti Shrem says she always brings visitors to iconic wineries such as Opus One, Robert Mondavi and the Hess Collection, but also recommends less well-known, smaller vintners.

At Gargiulo Vineyards in Oakville, “the wine is fantastic, they do wine and food tastings, and they entertain a lot in a beautiful tasting room,” Manetti Shrem says. At Continuum Estate in St. Helena, founded by Robert and Margrit Mondavi’s son, Tim, “I like the way that it has been built on top of the hill, and the wine is delicious,” she notes. Both offer tastings by appointment only.
