Buchli Station Road Trail, Napa

-

4.75-MILE LOOP, MODERATE

The Carneros region south of Napa may be better known for pinot noirs. But not far away, the 15,200-acre Napa-Sonoma Marshes Wildlife Area on the north shore of San Pablo Bay can offer you birds and fish and magnificent sunsets. One good access point is the Buchli Station Road Trailhead; from here hikers and cyclists can take the Buchli Station Road Trail, which runs along the levee tops in a 4.75-mile loop. Be sure to bring your binoculars: dowitchers, western Sandpipers and American avocets are all on display. Start: south end of Buchli Station Road; www.wildlife.ca.gov/lands/places-to-visit/napasonoma-marshes-wa
