Dryfoot Trail, St. Helena

-

6.4 MILES OUT-AND-BACK, MODERATE

A former cattle ranch, Moore Creek Park spreads alongside the northeastern shore of Lake Hennessey above St. Helena. Terrain here ranges from rolling hills (popular with mountain bikers and hikers) to the shady canyon along Moore Creek. A brand new section of Moore Creek Trail, called the Dryfoot Trail, ambles along the creek, crossing it on three new stonearch bridges. In a little over 3 miles you’ll reach a spot labeled on some park maps as Top Secret Swimming Hole. (Shh! Don’t tell anybody.) Start: Trailhead near the park entrance, 2602 Chiles and Pope Valley Road, St. Helena; www.napaoutdoors.org/parks/ moore-creek-park
