SLOW DOWN AND SAVOR THE COAST

- By David Ferry

The 75 miles of coastline that separate San Francisco from Santa Cruz can feel like the semi-mythical Bay Area of yesteryear. Working farms still dot the coastal bluffs, towns feel less like suburbs and more like villages, and there’s nary a $5 latte to be seen. You can make the drive in two hours, but that would be ill advised; instead, slow down, pull off the highway when the urge strikes and embrace the region’s newly minted moniker: the Slow Coast.
