Firefighter held, accused of threatening gun violence
A San Francisco firefighter suspected of threatening gun violence and illegally possessing firearms was arrested this week, officials said.
Rock Plichcik, 59, was booked into San Francisco County Jail at 1:09 a.m. Tuesday on 12 felony charges of possession of an assault weapon, as well as misdemeanors for owning and possessing prohibited firearms and contempt of court.
Plichcik was arrested about 3:20 p.m. Monday on the 1200 block of 16th Avenue, said Officer Robert Rueca, a San Francisco Police Department spokesman.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives received tips informing them that Plichcik made threats involving gun violence in addition to being in possession of several firearms, Rueca said.
Fire officials referred all inquiries to the Police Department.
“We are aware of the incident and working with San Francisco Police Department,” said Lt. Jonathan Baxter, a Fire Department spokesman.
At least two restraining orders have been filed against Plichcik in Contra Costa County — one on May 16 and another on Jan. 22, according to court records. One of those restraining orders prohibited Plichcik from possessing any firearms, police said.
The department is not confirming the identity of the registered owner of all the weapons, Rueca said.
Plichcik is being held without bail. His next court date is March 14.
