Former Raiders and 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith turned himself in to San Francisco police Tuesday, was booked into jail and then posted bail in connection with an alleged domestic-violence attack, authorities said.

Smith, 28, had been sought by police after he allegedly assaulted a woman in a home on the 600 block of Bush Street around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. The woman identified Smith, who fled the scene before officers arrived, officials said.

Police secured a warrant Monday from the San Francisco district attorney’s office, which charged Smith with domestic violence, assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury, false imprisonment and vandalism, all misdemeanors.

Smith’s attorney had been negotiating his surrender before he turned himself in at 10:15 a.m.. He was booked into jail at 12:25 p.m. and released on $30,000 bail two hours later.

He is scheduled for arraignment in San Francisco Superior Court on Monday.

The Raiders on Monday released Smith, whose brushes with the law have been frequent and well-documented, derailing a promising career.

Drafted seventh overall by the 49ers in 2011, Smith was a standout rookie, recording 37 tackles and 14 sacks. But in 2012, he was charged with DUI in Miami and entered a diversion program in exchange for having the charges reduced.

In September 2013, he was accused of driving under the influence of marijuana after crashing into a tree in San Jose. Less than three weeks after that, Smith was arrested and charged with possession of an assault weapon stemming from a violent incident at a party at his San Jose home in 2012.

In August 2015, Smith was arrested and charged with DUI, hit and run and vandalism in Santa Clara County, and released by the 49ers. Smith signed with the Raiders the following month.
