LeVar Burton aloud in SF

- — Peter Hartlaub

Actor LeVar Burton takes his excellent podcast “LeVar Burton Reads” on the road, arriving at the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre on Sunday, April 29.

There are few actors who have performed a more diverse array of iconic roles than Burton. He was young Kunta Kinte in the 1977 TV miniseries “Roots,” Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge in “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and hosted the educational TV series “Reading Rainbow.”

That love of reading is embedded in his wonderful podcast “LeVar Burton Reads,” which delivers a new short story every week — read with care and nuance by the lifetime literacy advocate.

LeVar Burton Reads LIVE!: 8 p.m. Sunday, April 29. $35. Palace of Fine Arts Theatre, 3301 Lyon St., S.F. www.palaceoffinearts.org
