Friday’s fourth race is the first event of the season for 2-year-olds. The 4½-furlong race drew four males and two fillies — all California­breds. Cozze Kid, a filly, boasts the fastest workouts, going 4 furlongs in 48.80 seconds from the starting gate and 3 furlongs in 35.60. This onesforjam­es has two 5-furlong workouts among his 11 drills. … Many Lights seeks her sixth straight win in Saturday’s 10th race. The 6furlong starter allowance also drew Pattin for a Dance, whose five-race winning streak ended when she finished a neck behind Many Lights on April 20. … Nomination­s close Thursday for the $50,000-added Golden Poppy Stakes on May 12. Elsewhere: The Kentucky Oaks features an East-West matchup between Monomoy Girl and Midnight Bisou. Monomoy Girl has five wins and a loss by a neck in six starts and comes off of a 5½-length victory in the Grade 1 Ashland Stakes at Keeneland. Midnight Bisou has three wins and two losses by a nose in five starts and comes off of a 3½-length victory in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Oaks. … Mended will try again to give trainer John F. Martin his first graded-stakes victory when she runs in the Grade 3, $100,000 Adoration Stakes on Sunday at Santa Anita. Mended won 10 straight races before finishing second in the Grade 2 La Cañada Stakes and the Grade 1 Santa Margarita Stakes at Santa Anita.
