Team no-no for Dodgers; Pujols gets his 3,000th hit

-

The Dodgers have the most no-hitters in the majors — and now the most in Mexico, too.

Rookie Walker Buehler and three Los Angeles relievers combined for the franchise’s 23rd no-hitter in a 4-0 victory over San Diego in the opener of a neutral-site series Friday night in Monterrey.

Mexico had waited since 1999 to host a regular-season major-league game, and it got a historic one: the first no-hitter ever outside the U.S. or Canada and the 12th combined no-hitter in major-league history.

Buehler struck out eight and walked three in six innings, giving way to Tony Cingrani, Yimi Garcia and Adam Liberatore, who threw an inning each.

Pujols gets 3,000th hit: The Angels’ Albert Pujols got his 3,000th hit, reaching the mark with a broken-bat single in Seattle and becoming the 32nd player in majorleague history to join the club.

Pujols dumped the single into shallow right field in the fifth inning against Mike Leake.

He received a standing ovation from the crowd at Safeco Field and was given the baseball and first base as mementos. His teammates all greeted him on the field before action resumed.

The Angels beat the Mariners 5-0 behind 62⁄3 strong innings by starter Garrett Richards.

Cole dominates: Gerrit Cole struck out a careerhigh 16 and walked just one in a one-hitter as the Astros routed Arizona 8-0 in Phoenix.

With a game score of 100, Cole became the 14th pitcher in major-league history to reach triple figures in the stat, which was invented by Bill
