Patrick M. Kehoe

-

Patrick Martin Kehoe, treasured husband, amazing father, adored grandfather, caring brother, and loyal friend, passed away from a stroke at age 85 on May 3, 2018.

Patrick (“Paddy”) was born in Coolraheen, Muckalee, county Kilkenny, Ireland to Brigid Kehoe and Myles Kehoe on September 23, 1932.

He grew up in a large, loving family. Patrick stayed busy with school and helping out on the family’s farm. He spent his free time swimming in a nearby river and catching salmon with his bare hands.

Patrick was eager for travel and adventure. He learned of an opportunity to work as a butcher in Canada, so he moved there from 1954 to 1958. He made lifelong friends there.

He returned to Ireland and married his beloved wife Patricia Kehoe on January 15, 1958 in St. John’s Church in Kilkenny. He and Patricia soon moved to New York City and lived there 7 years. They thoroughly enjoyed the vibrant Irish community there during that time period; Patrick and Patricia were fabulous dancers and shared many wonderful nights at the dance halls of the city.

Soon after their son Brian Kehoe was born in 1965, they moved to suburban upstate New York for the first 3 years of his life. Patrick and Patricia surprised the whole family when they made the decision to move across the country to California in 1968. They lived in San Francisco for 2 years, and then settled in Corte Madera, California. The Kehoes have lived in the same lovely home for 47 years. Patrick worked as a butcher for several organizations, most notably with Golden State Meats, Safeway, and Molly Stone’s. He retired in 1995. He was very involved in the local community and was a wellloved youth soccer coach for many years.

After his retirement, he enjoyed golf, swimming, and taking walks. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with friends and family. His grandchildren Aidan and Ava will always fondly remember Papa Kehoe’s delicious fried egg breakfasts filled with fun and laughter.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents Brigid and Myles Kehoe and his brothers Jim Kehoe and Myles Kehoe.

Patrick is survived by his wife of 60 years Patricia Kehoe, his son Brian Kehoe (Nicole) of Ojai, California, his brothers: Dan Kehoe (Francis) of Middle Village, NY, Vincent Kehoe of New York City, Leo Kehoe (Ann) of Hawley, PA, his sisters: Delia Brennan of Ballynunnery the Rower, Ireland, Nano Braid of Gabriola Island, British Columbia, Canada, Elizabeth Kehoe of New York City, Jennie Walsh of Deerfield Beach, Florida, and Jemma Lynch (Wayne) of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and his grandchildren Aidan Kehoe and Ava Kehoe of Ojai, California.

The funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 11th at 10:00am at St. Patrick Church in Larkspur.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Patrick’s name to Arc of the United States.
