Update: Gates open at 9 a.m. Saturday — one hour earlier than usual — as the Preakness program at Pimlico begins at 7:30 a.m. … Tribal Storm, who won the Lost in the Fog Stakes on Feb. 19 in a 20-1 upset, and Krsto Skye, who won the Albany Stakes on June 10 in a 62-1 upset, meet in Friday’s sixth race. The 5-furlong non-conditione­d allowance on the grass is a prep for this year’s Albany Stakes, scheduled for June 9. Tribal Storm was claimed for $62,500 by trainer Ari Herbertson on April 26 when the horse finished sixth as the favorite. … Entries will be taken Thursday for the Alcatraz Stakes — a 1-mile grass race for 3-year-olds. Among the 15 nominees are Hardboot and Unpossible, the 1-2 finishers from the Silky Sullivan Stakes for California-breds on April 29. Also nominated was Fibonacci, who comes off of two decisive victories going 11⁄8 miles on the grass at Santa Anita. … Nomination­s close Thursday for the Grade 3, $100,000 All American Stakes on May 28.

Elsewhere: The Breeders’ Cup announced a major format change for this year’s event Nov. 2-3 at Churchill Downs. The Friday program will feature all five races for 2-year-olds: the new Juvenile Turf Sprint, the Juvenile Turf, the Juvenile Fillies Turf, the Juvenile and the Juvenile Fillies. The other nine races will be run on the Saturday program, including the Distaff, which had been the first-day feature in the previous 10 years.
