_1 Cohen probe: Porn actress Stormy Daniels had been scheduled to meet with federal prosecutors in New York City on Monday as part of their investigation into Michael Cohen, President Trump’s personal attorney. But the meeting was abruptly canceled late Sunday after it was reported by news organizations. Daniels’ lawyer, Michael Avenatti, said prosecutors told him the meeting was canceled. It has not been rescheduled. Daniels has said she had sex with Trump in 2006 when he was married, which Trump has denied. As part of their investigation into Cohen, prosecutors have been examining a $130,000 payment that was made to Daniels as part of a confidentiality agreement days before the 2016 presidential election. _2 Trump aide ejected: President Trump on Monday trash-talked a Virginia restaurant that asked his press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, to leave because she worked for his administration. Trump tweeted that The Red Hen restaurant in Lexington “should focus more on cleaning its filthy canopies, doors and windows (badly needs a paint job) rather than refusing to serve a fine person like Sarah Huckabee Sanders.” Sanders said she was asked to leave the restaurant Friday by its owner because she worked for Trump. _3 Candidate injured: House candidate Katie Arrington is determined to keep running for Congress even after a South Carolina car crash that will likely keep her hospitalized for two weeks, family friend Sen. Tim Scott said Monday. Arrington was a passenger in a car that was hit head on by another vehicle going the wrong way Friday night near Charleston. The woman driving Arrington, Jacqueline Goff, was also critically injured, while the other driver, Helen White, was killed. Blood entered Arrington’s abdomen after the wreck and she was immediately taken into surgery. She also broke her back and two ribs and had another surgery Sunday to take pressure off of her spine. _4 Spouse strangled: A Boulder, Colo., man is charged with firstdegree murder in the strangulation death of his wife after the struggle was recorded on a surveillance camera’s audio. Scott Beaumont Jones, 48, made an initial court appearance Monday. He did not enter a plea and was jailed without bond. Prosecutors said surveillance camera footage from a mobile home park showed Jones and Deborah De Pinto, 44, entering the office arguing. While out of view of the camera, the audio picked up a woman screaming and the sounds of a physical struggle, followed by a man saying, “It’s over.” Investigators say Jones told them he didn’t mean to do it and that De Pinto died of asphyxiation.
_5 Workers crushed: Two workers died Monday when 800-pound slabs of countertop material that fell on them while being unloaded from a trailer in Lockport, N.Y. The Sheriff ’s office said 11 slabs of the material collapsed on the workers at the XPO Logistics facility. The company said it’s working with its safety team and law enforcement to understand the circumstances surrounding the accident.
