Skeptical of corporations
Regarding “Companies need to align spending with their values” ( July 29): For all the commendable moves corporations can make in spending money on worthy social causes, let’s not forget that they are willing to fight back on regressive legislation in certain states such as transgender bathroom laws while still reaping the benefits of tax breaks and lax regulations on businesses those same legislators afforded them. I abhor Congress’ inability to act on more progressive legislation, although I don’t believe corporations to be much better unless they are willing to cede the perks certain state governments have to offer them to do business in their jurisdictions, which I highly doubt they will ever do.
