Sonya Deitz, 81 of San Rafael CA passed away to be with the Lord and her husband on July 24th 2018.

Sonya was born in Jersey City NJ on Nov 1, 1936 and her father was a hat maker in New York City and they resided in Jackson NJ for many years.

She was a registered nurse who received her Nursing degree at Jersey City Hospital School of Nursing in 1958 in Jersey City, NJ. It was during this time she met the love of her life Robert, whom she married in 1959 and they were together for 55 years. When the family moved to California in 1965 and she was a nurse at VA Hospital of San Francisco before focusing on raising her children fulltime. The family lived in San Francisco, Pacific Beach, Corte Madera and San Rafael.

Sonya raised her children while helping her husband build a successful medical practice in San Francisco on 2001 Union Street. She was active helping her children with scouts, horse riding, school sports, and was a second mom to all the other children in the neighborho­od which she loved. Later on she became a licensed real estate agent in San Rafael working locally for 15 years. She and her husband were long time members of the Sausalito Yacht Club, Saint Mary’s Hospital Foundation, and longtime season ticket holders for the SF 49ers from the days at Kaiser stadium. She attended every 49er Super Bowl.

She is survived by her 4 children Robert, Jeffrey, Darcy and Lydia Yaffe and 3 grandchild­ren – Kira Yaffe, Nicolette Yaffe, and Robert Deitz III
