Games of the week

- — Mitch Stephens

(All are at 7 p.m. Friday except where noted)

No. 6 Clayton Valley-Concord at No. 2 Pittsburg —

Great matchup of quarterbacks, Clayton Valley’s Logan Sumter against Trey Turner.

No. 25 Las Lomas-Walnut Creek at Acalanes-Lafayette —

Acalanes must find a way to overcome the graduation of All-Metro quarterback Robby Rowell (now at Cal).

No. 14 Marin Catholic-Kentfield at No. 19 Campolindo-Moraga —

Marin Catholic returns 15 starters from last season, but quarterback Gaven Cooke is new and charged with replacing Chronicle Metro Player of the Year Spencer Petras (now at Iowa).

Foothill-Pleasanton vs. San Leandro (at Burrell Field-San Leandro) —

This is Greg Haubner’s first game as Foothill head coach; Matt Sweeney retired after last season, his 31st with the Falcons.

No. 9 San Ramon Valley-Danville at Heritage-Brentwood —

Four former Freedom-Oakley assistants, including former NFL running back Ron Rivers, are assisting Don Sanders at Heritage.

Vacaville at No. 5 Liberty-Brentwood —

Although Liberty has a handful of Division I talent, its most productive player might be 5foot-9, 170-pound middle linebacker Nicky Einess, the 2017 Bay Valley Athletic League Defensive Player of the Year.

Folsom at No. 1 De La Salle-Concord (7:30 p.m.) —

Quarterback and line play should be the keys in this one. Folsom senior Kaiden Bennett has the edge over first-time DLS starter (and sophomore) Dorian Hale, but De La Salle’s line is the better of the two.
