Mets put up 24 runs on bumbling Phillies

In the first game of a doublehead­er, Jose Bautista hit a grand slam and had a career-high seven RBIs as the visiting New York Mets set a franchise record for runs in a 24-4 rout of the Philadelph­ia Phillies on Thursday.

Rhys Hoskins hit a three-run homer and Scott Kingery had a solo shot as the Phillies won the second game of the doublehead­er 9-6.

In the opener, Corey Oswalt allowed four solo homers in six innings, Amed Rosario hit a leadoff homer and had three RBIs and the Mets took advantage of four errors to score 11 unearned runs.

Even reliever Jerry Blevins got his first career hit, a line-drive RBI single off infielder-turned-pitcher Scott Kingery.

“There’s nothing better,” Blevins said. “It’s something you dream about as a kid. When I tell the story, I’ll say I turned around a 95 (mph fastball). It’s pretty awesome.”

The Mets scored more than 15 runs in consecutiv­e games for the first time in franchise history. They beat Baltimore 16-5 Wednesday night.

Rangers 8, Angels 6: Jurickson Profar started a triple play and homered and host Texas rallied from a five-run deficit to win. With the bases

loaded, David Fletcher hit a low liner toward third that Profar picked on a short hop. Playing near the bag, he stepped on third to force out Eric Young Jr. and then tagged Taylor Ward, who into foul had territory. stumbled Profar off the then base threw to second baseman Rougned Odor, who tagged Kole Calhoun between first and second. “Every runner thought it was a line drive,” Profar said, “so that’s why we got the triple play.”

Diamondbac­ks 5, Padres 1: Clay Buchholz struck out six in a complete-game victory for visiting Arizona. The Diamondbac­ks’ David Peralta delivered a three-run home run and walked twice. Alex Avila drove in Arizona’s other two runs.

Rockies 5, Braves 3: David Dahl homered in the third inning

and capped the winning three-run rally in the ninth with a two-out, two-run single off Brad Brach as visiting Colorado won for the fifth time in six games. Atlanta’s Ronald Acuña Jr. was 1-for-4, but his fivegame home run streak ended, as did Atlanta’s five-game winning streak.

Cubs 1, Pirates 0: Jon Lester pitched six innings to win for the first time in just over a month and Ian Happ homered for visiting Chicago. Lester allowed five hits, struck out eight and had no walks while improving to 3-1 against the Pirates this season.

Nationals 5, Cardinals 4: Bryce Harper had three hits and drove in three runs, and a beleaguere­d bullpen held on as visiting Washington snapped a four-game losing streak. The Nationals won for just the third time in 10 games and snapped the Cardinals’ eight-game winning streak.

Rays 3, Yankees 1: Rookie left-hander Adam Kolarek pitched out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the ninth inning to lift visiting Tampa Bay.

Twins 15, Tigers 8: Logan Forsythe had a career-high five hits and Jorge Polanco drove in four runs for host Minnesota. The teams combined for seven homers, with Polanco’s threerun shot accounting for one of three by the Twins.

Royals 6, Blue Jays 2: Six players drove in one run each for host Kansas City, which got a three-hit day from second baseman Rosell Herrera.
