Forward McKinnie gets 2-year contract

- By Connor Letourneau

The Warriors agreed to terms with forward

Alfonzo McKinnie ona two-year minimum contract Friday, a team source confirmed with The Chronicle.

McKinnie, 26, will take the 14th spot on Golden State’s 15-man roster. With the team’s season opener against Oklahoma City coming Tuesday, it’s increasingly unlikely that restricted free-agent guard Patrick McCaw will re-sign with the Warriors.

In five preseason games, McKinnie averaged 6.6 points and five rebounds. Over Golden State’s previous two games before Friday, he had totaled 21 points on 10-for-15 shooting to go with 10 rebounds.

Earlier Friday, before giving him a two-year deal, the Warriors converted McKinnie’s Exhibit 10 contract to a two-way deal. It was the latest example of a team taking advantage of the collective bargaining agreement’s new rules to put a training-camp invitee on the 15-man roster.

McKinnie joined Golden State for training camp after getting waived by the Raptors in July. In 14 games with Toronto last season, he totaled 21 points and seven rebounds. His previous stints include stops with the G League’s Windy City Bulls, as well as teams in Mexico and Luxembourg.

The 6-foot-8, 215pound McKinnie is capable of guarding multiple positions. Now that he is no longer on a two-way contract, the Warriors have one such deal available. Guard Damion

Lee has the other twoway contract.

Golden State announced Friday that it had waived Deyonta Davis, Danuel House, Kendrick Nunn and Tyler Ulis, all of whom are expected to land with the team’s G League affiliate in Santa Cruz.

The Warriors have planned to enter the regular season with 14 players. However, they still have another 15-man roster spot available if McCaw does re-sign.

Younger Cousins: The Warriors signed Jaleel

Cousins, the younger brother of Golden State center DeMarcus Cousins, to an Exhibit 10 contract.

Jaleel Cousins — a 6-foot-11, 255-pound center — last played for the Formosa Dreamers of Southeast Asia’s ASEAN Basketball League. Undrafted out of South Florida in 2016, he has spent time in the G League with the Texas Legends and the Reno Bighorns.

Per the terms of his Exhibit 10 contract, Jaleel Cousins, 24, can earn a bonus of up to $50,000 if he signs a contract with Golden State’s G League affiliate upon being waived from the parent club.
