Where: Laramie, Wyo. When: 11 a.m. Saturday Radio: 1590 Story line: After picking up their first win of the season with a 50-37 decision over UNLV last Saturday, the Spartans look to earn their first back-to-back victories since 2014 as they take on the Cowboys. Coincidentally, those consecutive wins four years ago came against UNLV and Wyoming. The Cowboys are coming off a 34-21 win at Colorado State that snapped their losing streak at four games. San Jose State ended its 2-11 season last year by beating Wyoming 20-17.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

The Spartans hope QB Josh Love can come close to duplicating his performance against the Rebels when he hit on 25 of 36 passes for 335 yards and a career-high four TDs. Josh Oliver again figures to be one of Love’s main targets. Oliver entered this week leading the nation’s tight ends in receptions (44) and receiving yards (514).

The Cowboys’ offense stems from their ground game. Senior running back Nico Evans averages 6.6 yards per carry and ranks third in the nation with 139.9 yards per game. Freshman quarterback Sean Chambers made his debut against Utah State on Oct. 20 and his first start in the win over Colorado State. He rushed for 100 yards against the Aggies and 101 against the Rams. In the two games combined, he attempted all of 15 passes, completing 10.

Trips to Laramie for the Spartans invariably bring back memories of what has to rank as the greatest kick in San Jose State history: Joe Nedney nailed a 60-yard field-goal try on the last play of the game to give the Spartans a 26-24 win over Wyoming on Oct. 3, 1992. Nedney spent the final six seasons of his 15-year NFL career with the 49ers. For the record, Bryce Crawford — the Spartans’ senior kicker — has a career long of 53 yards. — Steve Kroner
