Rid the streets of congestion

-

Regarding “Bill tries anew to get bike, walk lanes on streets” ( Jan. 14): In state Sen. Scott Wiener’s “complete streets” bill, the first thing to do to combat traffic congestion and climate change is to rid the streets of Uber and Lyft, which (according to The Chronicle) bring a large amount of cars to San Francisco streets every day. For the record, I own a 19-year-old Volkswagen Beetle with less than 30,000 miles on it, because I take public transportation whenever possible. I also walk, and would ride a bike if I could. When all else fails — once every couple of years — I take a taxi.
