A Prospect High School soccer coach was arrested for allegedly pursuing a relationship with a 14-year-old girl on his team, authorities said Tuesday.

Jansen Estrada, 24, was taken into custody Monday by Santa Clara County sheriff ’s deputies and booked on suspicion of sexual battery and having an inappropriate relationship with the teenage girl.

The relationship had been going on for “a couple of months,” said Deputy Michael Low, a Santa Clara County Sheriff ’s Office spokesman. The victim’s parents called police on Saturday and reported the assault.

The Santa Clara County district attorney’s office has filed five felony charges against Estrada, including sexual penetration of a minor, lewd and lascivious acts and oral copulation with a minor.

“It’s a crime for any adult to do this with a minor, but when it’s a coach, obviously, that’s a position of trust and that makes it more serious,” said Clarissa Hamilton, a deputy district attorney.

Estrada also worked as a tutor at Moreland Middle School and Easterbrook Discovery School, both in San Jose.

Detectives are still investigating the possibility of other underage victims, Low said.

“We hope that there are no more victims, but if there are, then we just hope they come forward,” he said.

Estrada is being held at the Elmwood Correctional Facility in Milpitas on $140,000 bail.

The schools did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
