Owner Joe Lacob says “I want Draymond Green to be here forever,” and the forward agrees.

Warriors forward Draymond Green reiterated his desire Thursday afternoon to stick with Golden State in the long term.

“I want to be here,” said Green, who will sit down with the Warriors this summer to negotiate a contract extension. “I’ve been saying that.”

Green’s comment came a day after the Athletic published a story in which Warriors majority owner Joe Lacob was quoted saying, “I want Draymond Green to be here forever. He’s as Warrior as they come.” Green acknowledged Thursday that it made him feel good.

Green, who will become an unrestricted free agent in July 2020, has the coming weeks to show the front office that he warrants a maximum deal.

In March, he signed with sports agent Rich Paul, who received national attention this season when he publicly demanded a trade for one of his clients, New Orleans forward Anthony Davis. Many throughout the league viewed Green’s decision to hire Paul as a sign that he’d go to great lengths to land the contract he believes he deserves.

Through eight postseason games, he has been a two-way force, averaging 12.6 points on 51.8 percent shooting, 8.5 rebounds, 7.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.5 blocks.

Curry update: The Warriors’ three-day break between Games 2 and 3 of the Western Conference semifinals should benefit Stephen Curry, who is recovering from a dislocated middle finger on his left hand.

“It’s probably good we have a few days off,” head coach Steve Kerr said. “So, hopefully, the pain will continue to go down as we get closer to game time.”

Curry, who still had his left middle finger taped, practiced Thursday with no restrictions. During his post-practice shooting routine, he appeared to have no issues.
