Biden coming to Bay Area for fundraisers
Former Vice President Joe Biden will be in the Bay Area at the end of the month for three fundraisers aimed at boosting his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Biden will be at private homes in Belvedere and San Francisco for a pair of fundraisers on June 28, and in Palo Alto the next morning for another private event.
Michelle Kraus, managing partner of Technology and Politics, a tech advisory group, sent out the notice of the planned events to potential donors.
Ticket prices for the fundraisers will range from $2,800, the maximum an individual can give to a presidential candidate for the primary, down to $500 and $250.
A campaign official declined to say whether Biden would hold any public events during his time in the Bay Area, saying that any announcement would be made closer to his arrival.
Biden was the only top-tier Democratic candidate to skip the recent three-day state party convention in San Francisco, saying he was committed to attending an LGBTQ rights dinner in Ohio.
State party Chair Alexandra Gallardo Rooker said Biden apologized for missing the convention and promised he would spend time in California in advance of the state’s March 3 primary.
As the early frontrunner in the Democrats’ effort to oust President Trump next year, Biden also has been a target for the other presidential hopefuls, who took their shots at the convention. A June California swing will give him a chance to make his campaign points without being surrounded by other candidates.
